Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Brief

Responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Quality Assurance Department. Ensure that department operations and finished products are in compliance with internal and external standards (Government Regulations, customer specifications, Ole’s, BRC, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Must be familiar with the Quality System requirements of the plant.
  • Reviews processing activities to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Assures that products are being produced in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Investigates and communicate to the Q.A manager all food safety issues.
  • Supervises the daily activities of the technicians.
  • Schedules the work assignments of the technicians.
  • Responsible for assessing the training needs of the technicians, making sure that training is adequately performed and documented.
  • Ensures that a safe work environment exists in the department and that safety meetings are conducted and documented.
  • Reviews and update work aids (instructions, charts, manuals, bulletins, code date calendars, etc.) essential for verification of product quality.
  • Monitors technicians’ adherence to department’s policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Assists in resolving quality related issues throughout the plant.
  • Participates in safety and sanitation audits.
  • Verifies labor hours and payroll report for accuracy.
  • Resolves team conflicts and if necessary, issue disciplinary actions.
  • Conducts monthly team meetings to address employee issues.
  • Maintains the absence/tardiness records of the technicians and record incidents.
  • Collects and interprets data needed to continuously improve production processes and product quality.
  • Verifies that department’s standard operating procedures complies with BRC requirements.
  • Assists in special projects and generates summary of projects’ performance.
  • Coordinates Mock Recall teams and assists in successfully completing mock recalls.
  • Assumes the duties of Q.A manager in his/her absence.
  • Communicates effectively with the Q.A manager/Director, department employees, Plant management, Regional management, Ole’s management and suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Baking, Food Science, Chemistry or related science required.
  • Knowledge of statistics preferred.
  • Courses in Quality Assurance concepts desirable.
  • BRC preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • 2 to 3 years working experience in a bakery /meat food plant. Or human food facility
  • 1 year in a supervisory position preferred.
  • Must have good communication skills.
