Quantity Surveying Engineer


Job Summary


The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for controlling and managing construction costs by accurately measuring work, applying knowledge of costs for labor, materials, plants, and other resources, and ensuring value for money. This role involves cost estimation, cost control, tendering, and handling contractual issues to ensure the efficient delivery of construction projects within budget.

Key Objectives


  • Perform accurate measurement of work on assigned projects.
  • Handle contractual issues carefully to ensure compliance and adherence to terms.
  • Provide timely and accurate cost reporting, management, and control.

Responsibilities


  • Carry out risk assessments and analyze project risks based on available information.
  • Track and monitor scope and cost changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze project cost control and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate in Value Engineering (VE) or Value Audit activities to optimize project costs.
  • Prepare cost estimates for project proposals, designs, and materials.
  • Maintain historical cost databases and use them for future cost benchmarking.
  • Participate in contractors’ pre-qualification process and pre-tender meetings.
  • Review and prepare tender documents for consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform financial evaluations of tenders and assist in contractor selection.
  • Prepare or review contract addenda as needed.
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates from the concept design and project scope.
  • Develop and review budget estimates for the entire project or individual components.
  • Review and validate the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) from design to final drawings.
  • Establish and implement cost control systems during the design and planning phases.
  • Prepare or review payment certificates for contractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project financial performance and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain contract documentation and references throughout the project.
  • Review contract variations and negotiate necessary adjustments.



Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying in the real estate industry, particularly with large-scale projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of cost estimation, financial management, and contract administration.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with different teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
