Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Prepare cost plans, estimates, and budgets for construction projects.
- Analyze project drawings and specifications to forecast project costs.
- Tendering & Procurement
- Prepare tender documentation and manage the tendering process.
- Evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids.
- Contract Management
- Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Project Financial Management
- Monitor and control project costs to stay within budget.
- Track variations, change orders, and cost implications.
- Produce regular financial reports, including cash flow forecasts.
- Valuation & Payments
- Conduct on-site measurements and valuations.
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
- Certify payments to contractors and subcontractors.
- Risk & Value Management
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks.
- Recommend cost-effective solutions and value engineering.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and health & safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure quality standards are met.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Essential Skills:
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
- Proficiency in MS Excel, and QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or similar)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- Professional membership (desirable): RICS, AIQS, CIOB, etc.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience (varies with seniority)
