Quantity Surveyor (QS) – Consultancy Experience

Role Overview
Responsible for providing full commercial and cost management services for construction projects on behalf of the client, ensuring cost control, value for money, and contractual compliance from pre-contract to post-contract stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepared cost plans, feasibility studies, and detailed estimates at various design stages.
• Managed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), take-offs, and measurement in accordance with relevant standards.
• Reviewed and advised on tender documentation, participated in tender evaluations, and prepared tender reports and recommendations.
• Administered contracts (FIDIC / standard forms), including correspondence, notices, and commercial advice to clients.
• Evaluated and certified interim payment applications and final accounts.
• Assessed variations, claims, and change orders, ensuring accurate valuation and cost impact analysis.
• Monitored project budgets, prepared cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and value engineering proposals.
• Provided advice on procurement strategies and contract selection.
• Coordinated with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
• Ensured compliance with project scope, contract conditions, and client requirements.
• Supported dispute resolution by preparing commercial assessments and documentation when required.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of cost control, contracts, and commercial management
• Proficient in measurement, estimation, and cost reporting
• Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• High attention to detail and analytical ability

Software & Tools (Optional)

• MS Excel, CostX, PlanSwift, Primavera, AutoCAD, or similar QS tools
