R&D Chemist in Coil Coating

Responsibilities:

• Checks sample product and raw materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests.
• Analyzing the results of the tests to achieve the targeted process.
• Carries out wet and dry film thickness checks, as well as density, viscosity, drying time and all other chemical specifications.
• Prepare the report for inspection and test data.
• Performs adhesion and penetration testing, visual checks after blasting, and evaluates impact testing.
• Tests various physical properties of paint and coatings, such as durability against abrasion, or adhesiveness of the material, color of the materials.
• Test the actual application of the tested material and benchmark the market products.
• Assisted in developing policies and procedures to keep the company ISO certified.
• Observe and verify special inspection and material testing perform by third parties.
• Evaluate the methods and processes of production and suggest further improvements in their functioning.
• Performing the inspections, measurements and tests according to the designed sampling plan and procedures.
• Communicates and enforces laboratory safety rules to internal and external researchers working in the lab.
• Test, inspect sample materials or products for defects and any deviations from specifications.
• Follow the internal laboratory procedure and sops with regards their scope of work
• Takes Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) lead in ensuring “safe systems of work” and “safe conditions” are in place within area of responsibility.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements / Qualifications:

Bachelor of Sciences (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry or a related science is required.

Experience:

Five+ years of laboratory experience.

Experience with the proper operation of laboratory instrumentation, troubleshooting and test methods.

Some Method development and validation experience is a requirement for this position.

Familiarity with product development cycle is a plus.
