Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist Hourly

  • Note: Employees in these positions will be scheduled for not more than twenty-four (24) hours per week.

A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist, under general supervision of the Recipient Rights Officer, provides essential administrative and operational support to the Office of Recipient Rights. A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist is responsible for processing and entering new Recipient Rights complaint information accurately and timely into the electronic medical record, maintaining a log of all complaint data, ensure documents and correspondence are mailed or emailed to all required parties throughout the investigative process within the timeframe as required by law, answer incoming calls, provide basic assistance to the caller, transfer calls to the appropriate staff or department, and if requested, assist with completing a Recipient Rights Complaint form. A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist will complete Recipient Right background checks upon request from internal and contract providers and assist in preparing for the tri-annual audit. A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist may perform interoffice deliveries among HealthWest/County departments and a variety of other human service agencies in the community and may assist with completing the bi-monthly Recipient Rights Advisory Committee report. A Recipient Rights Specialist may assist with New Hire Recipient Rights training, as needed, attend and participate in weekly department meetings, and perform other related duties as assigned. A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist will have no direct clinical or investigative responsibilities.

Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications

1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test AND have one (1) year general clerical/office support experience;
OR
Associate’s degree with a major in office administration, secretarial science, or business administration AND have obtained certification in an office/administrative support or assistant program.
2. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.

Preferred but not Required
1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.

A Recipient Rights Clerical Specialist works within the offices and program locations of HealthWest.

EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
