Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting dental findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding and engagement.
• Take and interpret medical imaging, including X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
• Maintain strict infection control standards using aseptic techniques and adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
• Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records regularly, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
• Support the dental team with clinical tasks such as medical imaging, documentation review, and assisting with pediatric dentistry procedures when needed.

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic environment is required; familiarity with dental assisting duties is highly valued.
• Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred; experience with medical terminology and medical records management is a plus.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, anatomy, and dental terminology is essential for success in this role.
• Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with children is advantageous but not mandatory; a compassionate approach toward pediatric patients is appreciated.
