Purpose of the Role
The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, manage patient hygiene and comfort, assist with mobility, feeding, elimination, etc.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, injections and other treatments according to physician orders and hospital policy.
- Assist in minor procedures and provide bedside support.
- Ensure infection control practices are followed, maintain safe and clean patient environment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care (nursing notes, medication charts, electronic medical records/HMIS).
- Hand over patient information accurately at shift change.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, post discharge care, medication compliance and preventive health.
- Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and other nurses to ensure continuity of care.
- Respond to emergencies, call bells, and unexpected patient events according to protocol.
- Uphold professional standards, ethical nursing practice and regulatory requirements (e.g., registration with the Pakistan Nursing Council).
- Support quality improvement activities, audit findings, risk management and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (3-year) OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Registration with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) is required.
- Preferably at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience (fresh graduates may be considered depending on role). Rozee+2Rozee+2
- Good communication skills (English & Urdu) and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to handle shift-work, varying duties and working under pressure.
- Basic computer literacy (for use of HMIS/EMR systems) is a plus. Indeed
- Physically and mentally fit for patient care duties, able to lift/move patients when required.
