Religious School Office Administrator

Position Summary:The Religious School Office Administrator provides essential administrative and logistical support to the Director of Religious School. This role ensures the smooth operation of the Religious School by supporting students, families, teachers, and staff, and by helping create a warm, organized, and well-run educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Religious School, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining records
  • Manage student and teacher attendance and records while ensuring confidentiality
  • Track medical forms, permissions, emergency contacts, and compliance documentation
  • Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
  • Communicate schedule changes, closures, and special program details clearly and promptly to families and staff
  • Assist with onboarding teachers and madrichim, including forms, schedules, and materials
  • Maintain the Religious School calendar, including class days, holidays, family programs, and special events
  • Assist with logistics for holiday celebrations, family education programs, and congregational events connected to the school
  • Coordinate classroom assignments and setup
  • Coordinate remote sessions via Google Classroom and Zoom; ensure families have correct links and access
  • Generate reports, rosters, labels, and attendance lists as needed
  • Prepare classroom materials, copies, and resource packets
  • Serve as on-site support during Religious School sessions
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Prior administrative experience, preferably in an office, school, synagogue, or nonprofit environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential student, family, and personnel information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, basic Sheets, basic Excel, and setting up Zoom and Google classroom meetings
  • Experience scheduling meetings and coordinating calendars in Outlook
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Availability on Sundays mornings and Wednesday afternoons during the school year September - May
  • Warm, welcoming demeanor when interacting with children, parents, and teachers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a school, synagogue, religious school, or nonprofit setting
  • Familiarity with Jewish holidays, synagogue life, or Jewish education
  • Familiarity with Shulcloud
  • Experience maintaining databases, records, rosters, and attendance systems
  • Comfort supporting both in-person and remote/virtual programming
  • Experience preparing reports, rosters, labels, and classroom materials
  • Managing tasks through monday.com

Must be able to work

  • Sundays 8:00AM - 1:00pm and Wednesdays 3:00PM - 7:00PM during the school year September - May
  • Two to Three other days per week as agreed upon: flexible in-person schedule
  • Total hours per week: 20-25

Compensation

$25 - $30 per hour depending on experience.

  • This position requires being on-site Sundays 8:00 AM–1:00 PM and Wednesdays 3:00–7:00 PM from September through May. This is approximately 24-28 Sundays/Wednesday per year, depending on holidays. Can you commit to this schedule consistently for the full school year?
