Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

THIS POSTING IS FOR THREE IDENTICAL POSITIONS (POSTION NUMBERS: 20073230, 20073231, AND 200732320. BY APPLYING TO THIS POSTING, YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ALL 3 OF THE AVAILABLE POSITIONS.

The Research Assistant position (Time Limited -1 year) will work with the Community Health and Wellness Resource (CHWR) team on the HomeGrown project (National Institutes of Health R61 funded study). This project will evaluate an adapted healthy lifestyle program specifically tailored for families of young children with Down syndrome with the goal of improving children’s diet quality and physical activity. This R61 grant will evaluate the feasibility of this program. The Research Assistants will lead recruitment and data collection with primary caregivers of young children (ages 2-6-years old) with Down syndrome.

The Research Assistant position will:

Assist in creating and prepping materials for recruitment and data collection
Train on all study protocols
Lead remote recruitment and data collection with primary caregivers
Monitor the study email for questions from participants
Assist the project manager with data checking for accuracy and completeness
Assist with data entry and cleaning
Either lead ASA24 coordination and check on daily progress or Tango payments for participants incentives.

Some evening hours may be required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience in public health, health behavior, exercise science, nutrition, psychology, social work, or related field.
Working experience with using research protocols to recruit and collect data on participants.
Experience with customer service
Experience and knowledge of families of and children with Down syndrome
