Introduction:

The primary goal of the Centre of Excellence, Trauma and Emergencies (CETE) is to improve health outcomes of individuals and populations affected by trauma and emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, complex humanitarian crises, disasters due to climate change and large-scale epidemics. The CETE will work with AKDN partners (including the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat), global academic and response institutions, governments, private sector and funding agencies to strengthen day-to-day trauma and emergency systems as well as disaster preparedness and response in low and lower middle income countries, especially those where AKU and AKDN is active.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • recruit study participants from three assigned hospital sites
  • obtain informed consent in accordance with study protocols
  • guide, teach and coach study participants throughout the study period
  • coordinate with clinical teams and site staff for smooth study operations
  • perform accurate and timely REDCap data entry and maintain study records
  • ensure data quality, completeness and confidentiality in line with ethical guidelines
  • connect the intervention study group with T-CHWs and facilitate coordination
  • conduct follow-up visits at patients’ homes and remain flexible to work in shift hours
  • assist in monitoring participant adherence and study progress
  • support day-to-day project-related activities, including reporting and documentation.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • a bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology or social science from a reputable institute
  • at least one year of relevant experience, preferably in community settings, hospitals, or research facilities, with a proven track record in data collection
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively
  • ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope with work pressure
  • experience engaging with multiple stakeholders, including laypersons, healthcare workers and policy makers.
