Introduction:

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:
  • perform cause of death analysis according to standard procedures
  • translate study tools, questionnaires and informed consent into the local language
  • supervise and monitor all field activities at study sites in Karachi
  • coordinate with staff working at field sites for timely completion of tasks
  • visit field sites for monitoring and auditing to ensure proper operations as per guidelines and SOPs
  • ensure completeness of all log books and checklists
  • ensure proper entry and archiving of data and questionnaires
  • prepare and present weekly, fortnightly and monthly project reports and presentations
  • conduct refresher training for staff
  • travel to different field sites and internationally as required
  • create liaison with stakeholders and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports with the Principal Investigator.

Requirements:
You should have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or equivalent
  • at least two years of experience managing community-based projects and performing cause of death for verbal autopsies
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • team player
  • good writing skills
  • basic knowledge of surveys and research designs
  • ability to collect analyze and interpret data for report writing and biostatistics
  • willingness to work on field sites.
