Research Specialist, Community Health Sciences - (2500038R)

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and non-communicable diseases & mental health.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • ensure proper identification and registration of patients as per study protocol
  • supervise and monitor domiciliary visits
  • monitor and report mortality and hospital surveillance
  • monitor and report on disease surveillance from non-project facilities (private and public sectors, and NGOs)
  • provide training to the study staff per the protocols and guidelines of study
  • ensure the completeness, proper filings, and archiving of the CRFs
  • make surprise visits to household and field sites to check quality of data collected
  • preparation and compilation of study progress report
  • in collaboration with the Data Manager, prepare monthly project reports
  • present the study results as per the requirement
  • to develop high quality research proposals for funding agency; conduct research and contribute in publications.

Requirements

You should have:

  • MSc. In Epidemiology and Statistics / MPH / MSPH/Master’s in HPM/ master’s degree in psychology/M.Sc. in
  • Anthropology/M.A. Sociology or any other relevant field
  • preferably with additional certification and knowledge of public health
  • two to three years of experience preferably in quantitative data collection and analysis
  • experience in training teams in evaluation and interventions
  • willingness for frequent travel to remote locations for overseeing quality assurance of departmental research
  • projects and training of local staff
  • highly organized and self-motivated
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • proven mixed methods of research skills
  • ability to work in teams
  • integrity and strong research ethics
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
