Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Assistant to join our team for night shift. In this role, you will provide essential support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment, ensuring their comfort, safety, and overall well-being. You will work closely with individuals who may have varying degrees of physical and cognitive challenges, including those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Your commitment to quality care will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.
- Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs and reporting any changes in condition to nursing staff.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure accurate documentation of medication administration.
- Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for all residents by following infection control protocols.
- Engage residents in social activities and encourage participation in programs designed for cognitive stimulation.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation practices, and EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, eClinicalWorks) is advantageous.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic life support techniques and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- A background in critical care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine can be beneficial for this role.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to work independently when required.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
