SUMMARY: The Restaurant Host is responsible for maintaining an efficient and courteous restaurant operation by greeting arriving customers, seating, establishing rapport and assisting with restaurant service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer choice of seating, then escort them to their table and present menu
  • Read, maintain and make daily entries in the log book to coordinate communication between shifts and management
  • Maintain proper set-up of dining room
  • Receive records and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials
  • Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Must speak proficient English

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous restaurant and/or customer service experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Continually required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and reach
  • Continually required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold and loud noise
