Restaurant Host/Hostess

Repeal is a 21-and-over bar and restaurant seeking an experienced Restaurant Host / Hostess to serve as the primary point of control for guest flow and seating during service.

This is a senior host role. The host scheduled in this position functions as the Lead Host on duty, with responsibility for pacing the room, managing the waitlist, and setting guest expectations so service runs smoothly.

This role is critical to the guest experience and works closely with the Bartender / Manager on duty.

What You’ll Do

• Greet guests warmly and professionally
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists
• Control seating pace based on service capacity
• Communicate accurate wait times and set expectations
• Coordinate continuously with the Bartender / Manager on duty
• Adjust seating strategy to protect service quality
• Handle guest concerns related to seating or wait times
• Maintain organization and professionalism at the host stand

• Seating is smooth and controlled, not rushed
• The dining room never feels overwhelmed
• Service teams are supported, not pressured
• Fewer guest complaints related to wait times or flow

This Role Is Not

• A management or scheduling position
• Responsible for staffing decisions
• Responsible for service recovery beyond seating issues
• An administrative or desk-only role

Escalation of service issues goes to the Bartender / Manager on duty.

Who We’re Looking For

• 2+ years hosting or front-of-house experience
• Comfortable managing guest expectations and wait times
• Calm, confident communicator
• Able to maintain authority without being abrasive
• Organized and detail-oriented under pressure

Preferred (but not required)

• Experience with OpenTable or similar reservation systems
• Experience in hospitality-forward or cocktail-focused concepts

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
