The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Rural Health Transformation Program.
The Reporting & Visualization Analyst serves as the data display for the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). This position translates complex RHTP data and analytical findings into clear, actionable dashboards, scorecards, infographics, and reports for internal and external stakeholders. The analyst designs and maintains user-friendly visualizations that align with enterprise business intelligence (BI) platforms and style guides, ensuring a consistent “single source of truth” for RHTP performance information. The role works closely with the RHTP data infrastructure and data science positions, as well as the Department’s central analytics team to diverse audiences including CMS, state leadership, legislators, and tribal governments, rural health providers, and community partners.
The incumbent participates in department-wide business intelligence and reporting communities of practice, helping promote data visualization best practices, reduce conflicting reports, and ensure data products meet the needs of both technical and non-technical users.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
Knowledge of basic concepts and metrics (e.g. rates, percentages, averages, trends, distributions) sufficient to accurately represent analytic results in visual form.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-aces environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with data engineers, analysts, data scientist, program staff, and external partners to define product needs and ensure accurate representation of data.
Preferred:
Experience working with healthcare-related data or public health metrics.
Familiarity with SQL for querying databases and creating custom data extracts for visualizations.
Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., R, Python) for automated report generation or advanced visualizations.
Meet minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Public Health, Communications, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
Three years of progressively responsible experience in data visualization, business intelligence, reporting, or data analysis in health care, government, consulting, or similar setting.
Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information
This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
