With over 650 student-athletes participating in UW's 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes with the ability to compete for national and conference championships while working toward a degree from one of the world's leading public research universities.
The Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Advising and Administration. In conjunction with members of the Student-Athlete Academic Services staff, the Academic Advisor will provide academic advising, academic coordination, and learning/skill-building strategies for student-athletes on assigned teams. Specifically, the advisor will assist with all aspects of course registration, major declaration, degree and graduation planning, and career exploration and development. Additionally, the advisor will guide student-athletes in becoming active and independent learners to help them achieve their academic goals at the University of Washington.
The Academic Advisor works with routine and specially admitted freshmen, as well as students requiring more active support within the student-athlete population. They will develop individualized learning plans and track and monitor academic progress. Advisors work closely with departmental advisors to ensure timely degree progress and graduation for each assigned student-athlete. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting with NCAA continuing eligibility reporting and documentation on a quarterly basis. Furthermore, the advisor will support events and programs in the student-athlete development area and serve as a liaison with departments and units across campus.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Excellence and the Director of Advising and Administration.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
