Job Title: Assistant Safety Officer

Job Purpose:
To support the Safety Officer and HSE team in ensuring all safety standards and regulations are strictly followed at the project sites. The Assistant Safety Officer helps promote a culture of safety and compliance with UAE legal and regulatory requirements specific to the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plans at the construction site.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support in conducting toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions for site workers and subcontractors.
- Report unsafe acts, near misses, and incidents to the Safety Officer or HSE Manager.
- Maintain proper records of safety inspections, incident reports, and risk assessments.
- Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is distributed and used correctly at the site.
- Monitor and support the safe operation of machinery and equipment.
- Assist in enforcing site safety rules in accordance with UAE labor law and company policies.
- Support emergency preparedness drills and first aid coordination.
- Coordinate with supervisors and foremen to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any related field.
- NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, or equivalent safety certification is mandatory.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a safety assistant or HSE personnel in the UAE construction/contracting sector.
- Knowledge of UAE labor laws, local authority safety regulations (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi OSHAD), and international HSE standards.
- Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets, technical documents, and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and safety documentation.

Working Conditions:

- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends or night shifts, if required
- May involve travel between different project sites across the UAE
