Safety Officer

We are recruiting Safety Officer for a Civil Construction Project based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

JOB PURPOSE:

responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the construction site by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. The role involves identifying risks, conducting safety inspections, training site personnel, and promoting a culture of safety compliance across all site operations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

2. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify unsafe acts or conditions.

3. Enforce the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensure all workers follow safety protocols.

4. Stop unsafe work immediately and report violations to the Site or Project Manager.

5. Ensure all machinery, scaffolding, lifting equipment, and tools are inspected and certified.

6. Maintain good housekeeping and site cleanliness to minimize hazards.

7. Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and safety induction programs for all workers and new joiners.

8. Organize safety drills (fire, evacuation, first aid) periodically.

9. Provide training on safe work practices, working at height, lifting operations, confined space entry, etc.

10. Promote a “Safety-First” culture among workers and subcontractors.

11. Maintain updated HSE records, including safety reports, inspection checklists, and training logs.

12. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports to management and clients.

13. Record and investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare corrective action reports.

14. Maintain incident and accident registers, and track closure of non-conformities.

15. Support in preparation of HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements.

16. Ensure compliance with local regulations (and project-specific safety standards.

17. Coordinate with the client, consultant, and subcontractors on safety matters.

18. Support in obtaining work permits and ensuring adherence to permit-to-work systems.

19. Participate in HSE coordination meetings and follow up on safety action items.

20. Liaise with authorities and company HSE representatives during safety inspections or audits.

21. Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting equipment, first aid kits, and emergency exits.

22. Develop and implement emergency response plans specific to the project site.

23. Act as first responder during any site emergency and coordinate evacuation or rescue efforts.
