Job Summary

The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. The role involves identifying potential hazards, developing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety across all manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and international HSE regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure safe design and operation of manufacturing processes.
  • Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees at all levels.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of HSE laws, standards, and best practices relevant to the tobacco manufacturing industry.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and safety drills.
  • Use AutoCAD to review and propose safety improvements related to plant layout and machinery positioning.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and facilitate audits and inspections.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Safety, Industrial, Mechanical, or related field).
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety engineering within manufacturing, industrial, or engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with tobacco or related manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive attitude toward safety and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
  • Competency in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for reviewing plant safety layouts.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Very good command of English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to analyze complex safety issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Capacity to lead safety training sessions and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong capability to manage multiple safety projects simultaneously.
