The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies at the construction site to ensure compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and internal standards. The role aims to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses through proactive safety management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance & Monitoring

  • Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Ensure all workers use appropriate PPE and follow safe work procedures.

2. Risk Assessment & Safety Planning

  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments, and toolbox meetings.
  • Support the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans and emergency procedures.
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions and recommend practical solutions.

3. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety inductions for new workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Facilitate regular toolbox talks and refresher safety training sessions.
  • Promote safety awareness and behavioral safety practices on site.

4. Incident Management

  • Report, investigate, and document all accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Recommend preventive and corrective actions and ensure follow-up implementation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, logs, and reports.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment with safety requirements.
  • Support audits and inspections by clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in emergency drills and ensure first aid and firefighting facilities are available and functional.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Safety Officer in construction projects (civil, infrastructure, or building works).
  • Certified in relevant HSE programs such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of local occupational health and safety regulations and construction site practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and safety reporting tools.

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED2,200.00 per month
