Safety Officer - MEP

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer for MEP Division is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of workers by monitoring and enforcing safety measures on site. This role involves conducting risk assessments, training staff, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards specific to MEP/ Construction Industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards (OSHA, local codes, etc.).
  • Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures on MEP installations and projects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Perform risk assessments specific to MEP systems and installations.
  • Develop and implement safety plans to address identified risks.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Conduct safety inductions for new hires and ensure they understand the specific risks related to MEP work.
  • Promote safety awareness and culture among all workers on site.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is up to date and easily accessible.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans specific to MEP systems.
  • Conduct emergency drills and ensure all workers are familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all phases of MEP projects.
  • Communicate effectively with workers to ensure understanding and compliance with safety standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and provide input on safety improvements.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction or MEP industry.

Knowledge: In-depth understanding of safety regulations and standards applicable to MEP work. Familiarity with risk assessment and management techniques.

Skills: Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in various environments including construction sites, confined spaces, and at heights.
  • Willingness to travel to different project locations as required.
  • Availability to work outside regular hours when necessary to conduct inspections or respond to emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on site.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: QAR3,000.00 - QAR5,000.00 per month

Education:

Experience:

  • Health, Safety, and Environment: 4 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • NEBOSH Certification (Preferred)
  • IGC in Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (Preferred)
  • NOC (Preferred)
