Sales and Catering Manager — Job Description
Job Purpose
A Sales and Catering Manager is responsible for generating revenue through sales of catering services and event spaces while ensuring exceptional customer service and smooth execution of events. They drive business growth by developing client relationships, negotiating contracts, coordinating event logistics, and working closely with internal departments (e.g., food & beverage, culinary, operations).
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, target, and secure new clients for catering and event services (corporate, social, weddings, etc.).
- Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans to meet revenue targets.
- Respond promptly to inquiries, prepare proposals, and follow up with prospects.
- Participate in networking events, site visits, and community outreach to promote services.
- Maintain a database of leads and manage key accounts.
Contracting & Negotiation
- Negotiate terms and pricing with clients and close contracts to secure business.
- Prepare detailed proposals, banquet event orders (BEOs), and ensure accuracy of contracts.
- Ensure all sales documentation is complete and compliant with company policies.
Event Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate with culinary, service, and operations teams to ensure successful event delivery.
- Assist with menu planning and customization based on client needs and budget.
- Conduct site inspections and review set-ups, equipment, staffing, and logistics.
- Monitor events to ensure service quality and client satisfaction.
Financial Management
- Prepare revenue forecasts and manage catering sales budgets.
- Maximize revenue through upselling and creative package offerings.
- Track and report on sales performance and market trends.
Client Service & Relationship Management
- Provide high-quality customer service before, during, and after events.
- Address client concerns and resolve issues promptly.
- Build long-term relationships to encourage repeat business.
Qualifications & Skills
✔ Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, Event Management, or related field preferred.
✔ Experience
- Several years of sales experience, ideally in hospitality, catering, or events.
- Experience dealing with high-volume catering and event clients is a plus.
✔ Skills
- Strong sales and negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and sales/event software.
