Position Overview
The Sales Intern: Supplier & Business Development will support the Sales team in managing supplier relationships and driving outbound business development activities. This role is ideal for individuals who are interested in a commercial career within freight forwarding and supply chain logistics. The intern will gain direct exposure to vendor coordination, outbound sales, internal pricing support, and new business prospecting, building a strong foundation for a future role within the Sales department.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight carriers, and vendors to gather rates, service updates, and transit time information.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the supplier rate database for air, sea, and road freight lanes.
- Support the team in outbound sales activities including lead research, prospect identification, and initial client outreach.
- Assist in the preparation of internal pricing comparisons and cost analysis for business development opportunities.
- Conduct market research to identify new trade lanes, emerging customer segments, and competitor activities.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier communications, rate negotiations, and business development activities in the CRM system.
- Assist with drafting proposals, capability presentations, and introductory communications for new business prospects.
- Support Senior Agents and the Team Leader in executing the company's business development strategy.
- Participate in supplier meetings, vendor calls, and sales training sessions.
- Perform any other task or duty as assigned by the direct line manager.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Recent university graduate (preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field).
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Urdu, both written and verbal.
- Interest in freight forwarding, logistics, and international trade.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with a commercial mindset and willingness to engage in outbound sales activities.
- No prior experience required; fresh graduates and final-year students are encouraged to apply.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the candidate will have gained:
- Practical knowledge of supplier management and freight rate negotiation processes.
- Exposure to outbound sales methodologies, lead generation, and business development techniques.
- Understanding of the freight forwarding industry including air, sea, road, and customs services.
- Experience with CRM tools and commercial documentation.
- The skills and knowledge needed to progress into a Junior Sales Agent or Business Development role.
Internship Structure
- Month 1–2: Orientation, training on freight services and supplier ecosystem, shadowing Senior Sales Agents, and learning outbound sales processes.
- Month 3–4: Active participation in supplier coordination, lead research, and assisting with pricing and business development tasks under supervision.
- Month 5–6: Independent contribution to business development activities, performance review, and evaluation for potential full-time placement.
