School-Age/Recreation Educator 9am-6:30pm

Job Summary
Join our vibrant team as a School-Age/Recreation Educator, where you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children during after-school hours and recreational activities. This full-time position from 9am to 6:30pm offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young minds through dynamic programming, foster positive behavior, and support childhood development. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while participating in diverse activities that promote growth and fun.

Duties

  • Plan, organize, and implement engaging recreational activities tailored to school-age children, including sports, arts, theater, and educational games.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times with vigilant classroom management.
  • Provide first aid and respond promptly to any minor injuries or emergencies, maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing individualized assistance to promote inclusive participation.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other staff to communicate progress, address concerns, and coordinate care plans as needed.
  • Foster a nurturing environment rooted in childhood development principles and Christian counseling practices when appropriate.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp counseling, tutoring, or babysitting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development strategies to support age-appropriate learning.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills to maintain a positive atmosphere conducive to learning and recreation.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain these certifications if not already certified.
  • Familiarity with special education techniques and behavior management strategies to support diverse needs of children.
  • Experience in sports coaching or theater arts can enhance activity planning and engagement efforts.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
