Scrub Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Scrub Nurse to provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room (OR). The Scrub Nurse will assist surgeons during surgical procedures, maintain a sterile environment, prepare surgical instruments, and ensure patient safety throughout the operation. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities – 250 WORDS

• Prepare the operating room before surgery, including sterilizing instruments, arranging surgical equipment, and setting up the sterile field.
• Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other materials as needed.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment after procedures.
• Prepare surgical packs, gowns, drapes, and other necessary materials for each operation.
• Document surgical procedures, instrument counts, and patient records accurately.
• Coordinate with circulating nurses, anesthetists, and other OR staff for smooth workflow.
• Participate in infection control and quality assurance programs in the operating theatre.
• Assist in emergency surgeries and respond promptly to intraoperative complications.
• Provide patient care and reassurance before, during, and after surgery as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (GNM / ANM/ GAD / BSc Nursing).
• Valid Nursing Council registration.
• 1–5 years of experience in surgical nursing or OR setting.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
