The QC Welding Engineer will be responsible for quality control and assurance of all welding-related activities carried out by Contractors and their Subcontractors for the metro project. Working as part of the PMC team, the role ensures that welding works comply with approved procedures, specifications, applicable codes and standards, Dubai Municipality and project quality requirements.
The QC Welding Engineer will oversee welding activities primarily associated with structural steel fabrication from plate into built up section at the factories of suppliers, as well on site during the structural or secondary steel assembly. Duties will include QC of welding activities of below ground and above ground pipework, mechanical systems, equipment supports, and other structural welded components and assemblies across the stations, depots, and metro facilities.<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Your role</h2>
Quality Control &amp; Assurance &ndash; Welding<ul><li>
Act as the PMC's specialist representative for all welding-related quality matters on site and at steelwork production facilities.</li><li>
Ensure that all welding works are executed in accordance with:<ul><li>
Contract specifications.</li><li>
Dubai Municipality Codes.</li><li>
Approved drawings and method statements.</li><li>
Approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).</li><li>

Ensure pre-heating, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), and environmental controls are applied as required.</li><li>
Monitor welding activities involving:<ul><li>
Structural steel fabrication and fit up works at the fabrication and installation stage.</li><li>
Secondary structures and site assembly welding activities.</li><li>
Mechanical and piping systems.</li><li>
Equipment supports and frames.</li><li>
HVAC duct supports and mechanical installations (as applicable).</li></ul></li></ul>
Non-Conformance &amp; Corrective Actions<ul><li>
Identify, record, and report welding-related non-conformances (NCRs).</li><li>
Verify implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.</li><li>
Support root cause analysis for repeated or critical welding defects.</li><li>
Analyse NCR and associated welder for repetitive defects and any appropriate corrective actions.</li></ul>
Coordination &amp; Interface Management<ul><li>
Coordinate closely with:<ul><li>
Quality Manager and QAQC Engineers.</li><li>
Resident Engineers and discipline engineers (MEP, Civil, Structural).</li><li>

About you</h2>
Education<ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline .</li></ul>
Professional Certifications (Preferred)<ul><li>
Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) / International Welding Engineer (IWE)</li><li>
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent</li><li>
CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or equivalent certification (highly desirable)</li></ul>
Experience<ul><li>
Minimum 8&ndash;12 years of relevant experience in welding inspection and quality control in the fabrication of Structural Steel and secondary steel.</li><li>
Minimum 8&ndash;12 years of relevant experience in welding inspection and quality control on large infrastructure or industrial projects.</li><li>
Proven experience on metro, railway, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.</li><li>
Prior experience working within a PMC / Engineer / Supervision Consultant role is strongly preferred.</li><li>
Experience overseeing welding works by multiple contractors and subcontractors.</li></ul>
Technical Knowledge<ul><li>
Strong knowledge of international welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, EN).</li><li>
Understanding of Steelwork fabrication techniques and traceability of materials when fabricating from Steel plate and built up section.</li><li>
Familiarity with DM Codes relating to built up section and the QC, Qualification and traceability of materials requirements.</li><li>
Familiarity with NDT methods, acceptance criteria, and reporting.</li><li>
