Land Surveyor
Dubai, UAE

The Land Surveyor works in the field as part of the construction team, performing various surveying activities. Carries and sets up survey equipment and marks measurements, as directed. The Land Surveyor works directly under the supervision of the Assistant Resident Engineer or the Resident Engineer and works in close co-ordination with the concerned Engineer (Structural/ Structural/Materials/Utilities/Electro-mechanical). Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What You'll Be Doing:<ul><li>
Perform land/field surveys and geodetic calculations.</li><li>
Interface with client and contractors to determine and verify project survey requirements.</li><li>
Complete the surveying requirements on schedule and within man-hour and cost budgets.</li><li>
Check setting-out and levels. Check services locations and ensure their protection.</li><li>
Prepare sketches to support the field work. Maintain all the survey information (field books, sketches and calculations).</li><li>
Assist concerned Engineer in verification and checking of shop drawings</li><li>
Verification &amp; routine checks of control points and bench marks</li><li>
Verification of setting out of works</li><li>
Recording of initial and final levels of works</li><li>
Verification of earthwork cross sections</li><li>
Take measurement of works inspected.</li><li>
Assist in the preparation of &lsquo;as-built&rsquo; drawings. Review of 'as-built' record drawings.</li><li>
Act positively and participate in all health and safety issues at site, as required by the Resident Engineer, and project Safety Representative.</li><li>
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.</li><li>
Knowledge of survey terminology and descriptive materials including maps, plats drawings and specifications.</li><li>
Ability to perform basic calculations.</li></ul>
What Required Skills You'll Bring:<ul><li>
Diploma/Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying or equivalent.</li><li>
Minimum 4 years of experience in inspection and supervision of Irrigation &amp; Landscaping works (Infrastructure construction &amp; supervision projects).</li><li>
Knowledge and experience in using survey software such as total station, level, theodolite and working knowledge of Microstation and AutoCAD software.</li><li>
Good oral and written communication skills.</li><li>
Must be available in the UAE with recent UAE work experience, particularly Dubai.</li></ul>

Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor major project located in Dubai.<ul><li>Review and understand project contract documents, drawings, specifications, and relevant authority standards to ensure accurate survey execution and compliance with design requirements.</li><li>Establish, verify, and maintain primary horizontal and vertical control points on site, including reference benchmarks and traverse networks.</li><li>Coordinate with the Contractor&rsquo;s surveyor to verify site benchmarks, layout, and control data prior to commencement of construction activities.</li><li>Check and verify all setting-out works including alignment, levels, and coordinates for roads, utilities (wet and dry), structures, and other civil works to ensure accuracy and compliance with approved drawings.</li><li>Monitor excavation levels, backfilling, and compaction layers to ensure compliance with approved design grades and tolerances.</li><li>Inspect and confirm the correct installation of utilities, chambers, and ducts based on approved survey data and ensure correct cover levels and horizontal alignment.</li><li>Conduct topographic and as-built surveys, ensuring data accuracy and proper submission of as-built drawings for approval.</li><li>Verify survey instruments are properly calibrated and maintained as per project and QA/QC requirements.</li><li>Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) in checking the contractor&rsquo;s survey works, identifying discrepancies, and issuing site instructions as required.</li><li>Record and document survey data, prepare survey reports, and maintain field books for all inspection and verification activities.</li><li>Ensure the contractor&rsquo;s survey team follows approved method statements and safety procedures during survey activities.</li><li>Perform joint surveys with the contractor and client representatives for measurement verification, payment quantities, and handover purposes.</li><li>Ensure all utilities and structures are constructed to correct levels and alignments before covering or backfilling works.</li><li>Participate in resolving survey-related issues or conflicts on site, including interface coordination between different packages or contractors.</li><li>Report any discrepancies, deviations, or errors found in the contractor&rsquo;s setting out to the RE/ARE immediately.</li><li>Monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance during survey activities and report any unsafe practices observed on site.</li></ul> 
Qualifications

Job Description 
This role as a Senior Project Surveyor within the AECOM&rsquo;s pre-contact cost consulting team will provide the right individual an environment which they can thrive and develop into a leader for the future.
They will work across a wide range of projects and end markets, giving the candidate exposure to many asset types, procurement routes and major UAE clients.
As a Senior Project Surveyor, you will be expected to plan work requested by other senior staff members and coordinate with Leadership to meet the timescales requested or advise where the timescales cannot be met and suggest mitigation strategies.
Whilst pre-contract biased, some exposure to post-contract works and experience in the construction phase will be beneficial. 
 
Main Duties and responsibilities:<ul><li>
Accountable for a variety of complex deliverables throughout the lifecycle of a project.</li><li>
Accountable for briefing the team on the project scope to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood.</li><li>
Leading deliverables and task such as feasibility estimates, cost plans, procurement strategies, BOQs, tender analysis reports and contract awards.</li><li>
Leading a team to carry out measurement activities within the office.</li><li>
Leading value engineering and value management initiatives.</li><li>
Leading by example and creating an inclusive work environment.</li><li>
Ability to develop and understand benchmarking data.</li><li>
Manages the resources on a project within the established budget.</li><li>
Monitors and manages the performance of Project Surveyors and other direct reports.</li><li>
Ensures all deliverables comply with the AECOM Project Delivery System.</li><li>
