Assistant Nurse/Midwife will:
<ul><li>Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife, contribute to the overall planning and delivery of nursing/midwifery care for patients ensuring a patient cantered approach to care.
</li><li>Under the direction of the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife, assist in the activities of daily living for patients in accordance with the patient care plan e.g. distribution of patient meals and assisting patients with hygiene needs.
</li><li>Maintain a high standard of nursing/midwifery care for patients, working within evidence-based guidelines and unit specific competencies.
</li><li>Demonstrate service excellence and act as a patient advocate to support the patients&rsquo; dignity and rights at all times.
</li><li>Ensure the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife is informed of vital sign observations and care provided for patients and document appropriately.
</li><li>Observe and report changes in the patient&rsquo;s condition and reactions to different aspects of care to a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife immediately.
</li><li>Respond to emergencies according to the organization&rsquo;s policies and procedures
</li><li>Facilitate post discharge clinic visits and/or tests as required including scheduling follow-up and referral appointments
</li><li>Help arrange patient transportation as required.
</li><li>Maintain flow of documents for scanning if needed.
</li><li>Provide direct patient care according to the therapeutic plan and individual patient needs as directed by the patient care plan under supervision of a Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife.
</li><li>Provide appropriate information to assist the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife, in the preparation and maintenance of an effective patient care plan.
</li><li>Record in the patient&rsquo;s official record a detailed report of care given which reflects the therapeutic plan and specific aspects of the patient care plan under direction of Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife.
</li><li>Reinforce instructions given to the patient by the physician and Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife, and refers new needs for instruction to the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife.
</li><li>Initiate emergency assistance as per policies and procedures and perform Basic Life Support as per regulatory requirements and scope.
</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife, and within the scope of practice
</li><li>Ask questions when in doubt for clarification by the Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife.
</li><li>Escalate to and seek expert advice from colleagues when unable to or not competent to undertake required care.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div>
 <div>Essential: the post holder must
<ul><li>Have an appropriate license to work as an assistant nurse/assistant midwife in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualification and experience these mandates.
</li><li>Manage their own professional re-licensure.
</li><li>Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
</li><li>Be willing to work across departments when necessary
</li><li>Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)

<ul><li>Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team
</li><li>Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation
