 ● NLP &amp; LLMs: Deep experience with transformer-based models (GPT, BERT, Llama) and

Senior Data Scientist

 The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support innovative clinical and translational research on brain health and disease in diverse populations within the UAE and wider MENA region.
 
 
 The successful applicant will play a central role in the day-to-day execution of human-subjects research studies, working within a multidisciplinary team of faculty investigators, research assistants, clinicians, and students. The position involves coordinating clinical and observational research protocols that integrate advanced neuroimaging, neuromonitoring, and behavioural methods, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, participant safety, and high-quality data collection.
 
 
 Key responsibilities include coordinating participant recruitment and workflow (pre-screening, informed consent, scheduling, and follow-up), maintaining regulatory and ethics documentation, liaising with clinical partners and imaging facilities, and overseeing clinical aspects of MRI, EEG, and MEG sessions. The Junior Research Scientist / Clinical Coordinator will also contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, support training of research assistants and students, track study progress and recruitment metrics, and assist with grant applications, ethics submissions, and progress reporting. The role works closely with dedicated neuroimaging and research assistants who focus on technical data acquisition, imaging pipelines, and analysis, while the Clinical Coordinator leads clinical governance and participant-facing workflows.
 
 
 Applicants must hold a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, nursing, or a related field; a Master&rsquo;s degree or clinical qualification (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical psychology) is strongly preferred. Candidates should have 2&ndash;3 years of experience coordinating human-subjects research or clinical trials, ideally in neurology, psychiatry, or related areas, and demonstrated familiarity with ethical and regulatory requirements for human research. Experience working with patient populations and/or in neuroimaging or neuromodulation environments (MRI, EEG, MEG, TMS) is highly advantageous. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages spoken in the UAE is an asset.

<div>The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use.
The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modelling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers an opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
Applicants must have a BS (MS preferred) in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problemsolving and time management skills.

Junior Research Scientist in the Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) - Dr. Khalil Ramadi

<div>The Life Molecules &amp; Materials Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi pursuing cutting edge research in the areas of self-organization and function of proteins seeks to recruit a junior research scientist with expertise in quantitative confocal fluorescence microscopy and membrane biochemistry.
The lab is currently focused on (1) developing bottom-up approaches to study the role of membrane shape in the function of intracellular organelles such as Golgi Apparatus and (2) understanding the determinants of protein solubility in the crowded intracellular mileu. Our research integrates biochemistry with physical chemistry and soft matter physics, and employs state-of-the-art tools including analytical ultracentrifugation, optical tweezers, confocal fluorescence microscopy, SAXS, NMR spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Group members receive training at the interface between physics, biology, and materials science, and will have access to generous travel allowances to attend international conferences and engage in scientific collaborations across the globe.
Candidates must have a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field and should be proficient in basic quantitative microscopy and wet lab biochemistry techniques and have prior experience preparing and manipulating giant unilamellar vesicles. In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate ability to independently perform quantitative data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or Mathematica etc. Good oral- and written communication skills in English are essential, along with great attention to detail and record-keeping in the lab. The successful applicant will also participate in guiding graduate- and undergraduate students in laboratory experiments and data analysis as well as assisting in drafting research papers and reports. Please note that this position is located outside of the United States and that the applicant must be willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Junior Research Scientist in the Division of Science (Chemistry) - Dr. Aleksander Rebane

<div>The Social Machines and Robotics (SMART) Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi focuses on the development of socially intelligent machines (computer applications, robots, Virtual Agents) that are capable of interacting and communicating in a natural way with humans, expressing through their figure a high degree of social intelligence, with a focus on applications in education and healthcare.
The SMART Lab seeks to recruit a motivated and passionate Junior Research Scientist to work under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Salam on topics including: (i) Human-Machine Interaction, (ii) Social Robotics, (iii) Artificial Intelligence for Diagnosis and Therapy of Individuals affected by Neurodevelopmental Disorders, (iv) Bias in AI.
Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Design, develop, and evaluate human-centered AI systems for SMART Lab research projects.
</li><li>Support data collection and experimental pipelines involving human participants, multimodal data, or robotic platforms.
</li><li>Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences.
</li><li>Communicate and present research findings at international academic conferences.
</li><li>Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility.
</li><li>Collaborate with PhD and post-doc researchers in the lab.
</li></ul>Minimuim Qualifications:
Bachelor&rsquo;s or prefered Master&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Robotics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field.
<ul><li>Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, with experience in machine learning and data analysis.
</li><li>Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computer vision, multimodal learning, affective computing, human-robot interaction, social robotics, or human-centered AI.
</li><li>Experience with machine learning frameworks, data processing libraries, APIs, web development, robotics platforms, or experimental research methods is desirable.
</li><li>Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written communication)
</li><li>Willingness and capacity to work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The Mutaba'ah Study is the first and largest prospective mother-and-child cohort study in the United Arab Emirates. Established in 2017, the study follows more than 18,000 pregnancies and their children from pregnancy through infancy, childhood, and adolescence. The study provides a unique national platform for investigating the developmental origins of health and disease and generating evidence to improve maternal and child health policy and practice in the UAE and beyond. Position Overview The successful candidate will play a central role in the management, curation, integration, and analysis of large-scale epidemiological and healthcare datasets. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant research infrastructure while working closely with epidemiologists, clinicians, biostatisticians, public health researchers, and artificial intelligence specialists.
