Seasonal Vineyard & Farm Worker

We are seeking seasonal full-time and part-time Vineyard & Farm Workers to help with vineyard care, farm chores and grounds maintenance at the Chateau Sainte Genevieve Winery in Bloomsdale, MO. These jobs offer bi-monthly pay at a rate of between $16-$19 per hour depending on experience. We will provide hands-on training.

You will be expected to learn many aspects of viticulture operations, including planting, pruning, suckering, tying, and weed control. You can also expect to participate in farm chores including livestock husbandry, hay baling & stacking, and grounds maintenance. You will need to be hard working and capable of multi-tasking. The responsibilities of this job occur outdoors, so be prepared to work in all types of weather. These positions are responsible to our Assistant Ranch Manager and/or our Assistant Vineyard Manager.

Requirements:

• A strong and proven work ethic
• Previous experience in farm, vineyard or orchard work is preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to work alone without constant supervision
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Ability to tolerate the working conditions of a vineyard (cold, hot, wet, windy, slippery.) Must be comfortable in inclement weather
• Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Frequent walking and bending are required. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting, replanting, and harvesting.
• Feeding livestock, mucking barns, participating in livestock health checks, bucking and stacking hay, erosion control, trellis installation/maintenance, vineyard installation, fence installation, etc.
• Occasional operation of equipment such as tractors, tractor implements in order to accomplish various vineyard/farm practices such as mowing, spraying, and hedging
• Operation of mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers for maintenance of grounds and landscaping
• Mulching, weeding and general maintenance
• Following safe operating procedures, maintain safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety
• Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with other staff
