Senior Accountant

K5 Engineering Consultants is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance department in Ajman. This role requires strong knowledge of UAE accounting practices, VAT compliance, financial reporting, and hands-on experience within engineering consultancy and/or construction companies.
Candidates with UAE experience in the same field will be given strong preference.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT laws, corporate regulations, and internal policies.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of all financial transactions.
• Prepare VAT returns, ensure timely submission, and manage all statutory financial filings.

Daily Accounting Operations

• Oversee AP/AR, supplier payments, subcontractor settlements, and client billing.
• Conduct bank reconciliations, manage cash flow, and monitor daily financial transactions.
• Review and approve payment requests, invoices, and expense claims.
• Ensure proper record-keeping, documentation, and archiving of financial data.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control

• Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and cost-control reports.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to management.
• Track project-related costs and ensure accurate expense allocation for engineering/ construction activities.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Support internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
• Implement strong internal control systems to safeguard financial assets.
• Improve accounting procedures, financial accuracy, and departmental workflow.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in the UAE, preferably within Engineering Consultant Offices or Construction Companies.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT regulations, and local compliance standards.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Candidates who can join immediately or on short notice are preferred.
