Senior Accountant

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support the accounting operations of a 5-store retail jewelry chain. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting execution, preparation of financial statements, inventory accounting, and month-end close. The position also provides day-to-day guidance and review support within the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, practical, and comfortable working directly in the ledger.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve variances
• Support and help drive monthend and yearend close
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Perform inventory accounting, including purchases, transfers, markdowns, shrink, and writeoffs
• Reconcile inventory records to the general ledger
• Support physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies
• Reconcile daily sales, returns, gift cards, customer deposits, and tradeins
• Reconcile POS activity to bank deposits and the general ledger
• Partner with store operations to resolve accounting issues
• Maintain fixed asset and lease schedules
• Support audits, tax filings, and sales tax reporting
• Assist with internal controls and accounting documentation
• Review work prepared by other accounting staff and provide guidance
• Help reinforce consistent procedures and close discipline

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of handson accounting experience
• Strong GAAP and monthend close experience
• Retail or productbased inventory accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills

Preferred:

• Multilocation retail experience
• Experience reviewing the work of others
• CPA or CPAeligible
• Experience with POS systems or lease accounting (ASC 842)
