We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Operations Division as a Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant is part of the Accounting team for the Department of Human Services for Larimer County. The Accounting Team provides Human Services with support in the following areas: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Mileage Reimbursements, Travel Reimbursements, Commercial Cards, CSBG/LCF Grants, Payroll, Trusts, EBT Client Cards, County Budgets, CCAP, and CORE.
This position is a hybrid position and will require at least one day/week in the office. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides a one-time remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
What you'll be doing:

Supervising technicians, administrative support staff, and lower-level accountants by providing guidance, direction, and oversight of daily work.

Reconciling financial records, including cash receipts, accounts receivable, monthly bank statements, and balance sheet activity, and preparing adjusting journal entries as needed.

Entering and maintaining financial, inventory, and related information in computer systems and generating reports to support financial and operational needs.

Preparing and analyzing complex monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports by compiling and verifying information related to grants, budgets, general ledger balances, revenues, and expenses for departments, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders.

Training and supporting staff in navigating the financial system and interpreting financial data.

Assisting departments with long-range planning and budget development.

Leading or supporting special projects, including implementing new GASB standards and other evolving financial practices or infrastructure initiatives.

Understanding of mathematical principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience conducting financial research and preparing accurate financial reports and analyses.

Proficiency in preparing financial statements and maintaining accounting records with accuracy and attention to detail.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to accounting, budgeting, and auditing.

Careful examination and verification of financial documents, records, and reports, including auditing financial systems.

Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting required.

Master's degree in a related field preferred.

Relevant certifications preferred.

Five (5) years of relevant experience required.
