Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting practices, financial analysis, and the use of various accounting software. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), payroll management, and financial reporting to ensure accurate and compliant financial operations.
Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and review complex financial statements, including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with precision, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Oversee payroll processing using systems such as ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy in employee compensation and benefits administration.
- Conduct account reconciliations regularly to verify data integrity across multiple financial systems including Workday, Kronos, Sage, and PeopleSoft.
- Assist with internal controls compliance, particularly related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, and support audit activities.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing detailed reports and performing variance analysis.
- Collaborate with human resources on benefits administration and HRIS system management to streamline payroll and employee data entry procedures.
- Utilize technical accounting knowledge to resolve complex accounting issues related to governmental or non-profit accounting environments.
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a focus on financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with payroll systems including ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro is essential.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles combined with practical experience in double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, and data entry efficiently while maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Experience working with governmental or non-profit organizations is advantageous but not mandatory.
