Senior Accountant

Reporting to: Accounts Manager

Role Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing month-end closing processes, and supporting compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations. The role requires strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of IFRS, and hands-on experience with ERP accounting systems. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Accounts Manager to maintain financial integrity and support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate general ledger entries and financial records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules and documentation.

VAT & Corporate Tax Compliance (UAE)

  • Review and prepare VAT returns in accordance with FTA guidelines.
  • Ensure proper VAT accounting, documentation, and compliance with UAE VAT laws.
  • Assist in preparation and filing of UAE Corporate Tax returns and related documentation.
  • Maintain tax records and support tax assessments or audits.

Analytical & Control Functions

  • Conduct variance analysis on financial performance vs. budget and prior periods.
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to company accounting policies.
  • Support management with financial insights and analytical reports.

ERP & Systems

  • Work extensively with ERP accounting systems for posting, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Assist in system improvements, automation initiatives, and process optimization.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for financial data and reporting needs.
  • Support Accounts Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Professional Background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (mandatory).
  • Part-qualified CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the UAE.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, and Corporate Tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in ERP accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial analysis skills.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to AED8,000.00 per month
