Job Purpose:

The job purpose is to lead and oversee the coffee and beverage service operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality while providing exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the coffee service, from training and supervising barista staff to maintaining equipment and ensuring consistency in beverage quality.

Staff Management:

- Support to recruit, hire, and train barista staff ensuring they are well-versed in coffee and other beverages preparation techniques, brewing methods, customer service, and the restaurant's policies.

- Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels during peak hours and special events.

- Provide ongoing supervision and guidance to barista staff, conducting regular performance reviews and addressing any issues promptly.

- Provide ongoing training to ensure staff members are knowledgeable and skilled in coffee preparation.

- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Coffee Preparation:

- Expertly prepare and oversee the preparation of coffee and tea beverages, and specialty drinks to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to established recipes.

- Train and educate barista staff on proper coffee brewing techniques, latte art, and customer interaction.

- Stay updated on coffee trends, brewing methods, and equipment.

- Oversee the operations and maintenance of coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

- Ensure adherence and compliance to the user manual and guidelines while operating the bar equipment (Espresso Machine, Coffee Grinders, Brewing Equipment, Milk Steamer/ Frother, Ice Maker, Blenders, Juice Extractor etc.).

- Undertake a proper training and understanding related to the operation of the Bar Equipment as/if required.

- Conduct routine equipment checks before service.

- Address any malfunctions or inconsistencies immediately.

- Regularly inspect all equipment for signs of wear or damage.

Beverage Quality and Consistency:

- Customer feedback on beverage quality and presentation.

- Consistency in beverage preparation, measured through quality checks or customer feedback.

- Rate of customer complaints related to beverage quality.

Order Accuracy:

- Percentage of orders prepared and served correctly, without mistakes or errors.

Customer Satisfaction and Engagement:

- Customer retention rate and frequency of repeat visits.

- Customer satisfaction ratings for service speed, quality and behaviour.

Staff Management and Training:

- Employee turnover rate within the barista team.

- Staff attendance and punctuality.

- Training completion rates and performance improvements among barista staff.

Operational Efficiency:

- Average wait time for customers to receive their beverage orders.

- Percentage of scheduled shifts filled and adherence to staffing levels.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

- Frequency and duration of bar equipment downtime for maintenance or repairs.

- Compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.

- Cost of repairs and maintenance relative to budgeted amounts.
