Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Senior Communications and Content Strategist develops and leads the implementation of integrated content strategies that amplify the UT San Antonio Online brand, elevate the digital student experience, and support strategic enrollment, engagement and reputation goals. This role is housed within UT San Antonio Online and is directly managed by the UT San Antonio Online team which is a part of the division of Academic Innovation. The Content Strategist works in close collaboration with Academic Innovation partners to ensure cohesive, high-impact storytelling across online programs, credentials, and learning experiences. While UT San Antonio Online provides direct supervision and strategic direction, this role operates in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment and will contribute to the larger Academic Innovation storytelling and strategic communication programs. This position partners with internal university stakeholders and external vendors to deliver compelling, data-informed content using storytelling, SEO, AEO/GEO, AI-powered tools and project management platforms. The role also supports market research and innovative content initiatives tied to new online program and credential launches. This position is responsible for producing and coordinating high-impact content strategies that support UT San Antonio Online's marketing and communications efforts. Primary audiences include prospective and current students, faculty, staff, alumni, university leadership, and external partners. The Content Strategist collaborates closely with all departments within Academic Innovation and other university partners such as Strategic Initiatives, Central Enrollment, and Central Marketing to align messaging, improve efficiency, and maximize institutional impact.

Core Responsibilities
  • Leads the strategy and planning of digital content storytelling that supports UT San Antonio Online's enrollment, engagement and reputational goals.
  • Collaborates with all internal departments within Academic Innovation to align content efforts including highlighting instructional innovation, workforce-aligned programming, learner outcomes and others.
  • Conducts market and industry research using Lightcast and related tools to assess demand for new online programs and inform strategic content, positioning and program storytelling.
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive content calendar in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator, ensuring alignment across UT San Antonio Online initiatives.
  • Creates campaign-driven messaging frameworks leveraged across video, blog, social media, email, web and traditional media.
  • Partners with designers, videographers, and marketing staff to translate strategic narratives into engaging multimedia assets.
  • Applies SEO and AIO/GEO best practices and keyword research across all content.
  • Integrates AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) into content workflows to improve efficiency and personalization.
  • Monitors and analyzes engagement and conversion data to inform iterative improvements.
  • Builds storytelling campaigns highlighting student success, faculty expertise, alumni impact, and new program launches.
  • Ensures consistency in brand voice, tone, and formatting across all communications channels.
  • Develops shared content toolkits, templates, and training resources for internal partners.
  • Coordinates content production using project management platforms (e.g., Trello, Asana).
  • Stays current on emerging digital communications trends and AI applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Physical Demands
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
