Senior Contracts Manager (Engineering Background) - NORTH COAST BASED

Reports to: Project Director

Location: North Coast – Egypt (On-site)

Industry: Urban Development / Infrastructure / Real Estate/coastal and Marine projects

The Senior Contracts Manager is responsible for forming, developing, negotiating, and managing the full suite of contracts required for the successful delivery of SouthMed program. This includes construction, infrastructure, utilities, wave-breaker, coastal developments, artificial bays, Marina, ensuring the project meets its cost, schedule, and quality objectives while complying with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer all contract documents from the tender process through to contract closeout including variations and issue resolution for design, construction, and other project related contracts.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the contract documents are implemented and maintained throughout the project duration.
  • Lead the review and assessment of claims, disputes and variations.
  • Interact with the Client representatives, the Project Management Consultant, and relevant Contractors in respect of all contractual matters.
  • Assist in the drafting of commercial terms for design, engineering and/or construction services
  • Prepare the contractual (front end) portion of the contract documents (while cursory reviewing the technical portion) to ensure congruity and to minimize patent ambiguities in the front end documents.
  • Administration of on-going Contracts.
  • Investigate contractual problems and recommend corrective action in accordance with the Contract.
  • Prepare correspondence and maintain records necessary to ensure the effective administration of all contractual matters
  • Prepare Contract variations.
  • Administer contract close-out procedures to ensure that all terms and conditions of contracts have been complied with prior to final payment to contractors.
  • Ensures that all warranties, bonds, insurances, guarantees, etc. are in place and maintained and updated in accordance with the Contract.
  • Prepare for review Recommendations for Release of Retention and Bonds.
  • Participate in the preparation of the contractual portion of the monthly Progress Reports.
  • Prepare and maintain logs for Variations and Claims.
  • Attend Commercial/Contracts Meetings and record minutes of meetings.
  • Lead any tendering process, whether for construction or consultancy services, until award.
  • Negotiate contracts until agreement is reached and signature takes place.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 18+ years of experience in contract management within engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience in large-scale projects, including residential, mixed-use and real estate development.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC, EPC, and other international contract standards.
  • Extensive experience in contract management, ideally within real estate, engineering sectors.
  • Strong background in project management, contract law, and business operations.
  • Familiarity with local and international laws governing construction and consultancy contracts.
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, PMP, or CCM are a plus.
