The Data Engineer will collaborate with the Data Operations, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business SMEs to design, develop, integrate and test Data Product features on the product roadmaps to meet customer needs.

What you’ll do:
As a data engineer in the InvestAI Lab, you’ll build new data components to help shape the Agentic AI future of Lloyds Banking Group, working within high performing teams and driving engineering excellence to create the right data environment to optimise our frontier Agentic AI system.
  • Produce high quality, well-tested and robust code
  • Able to design, build and test backend microservices and RESTful APIs
  • Good experience of containerised services (e.g. docker & k8s)
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of AI technologies, and in particular deterministic agentic behaviours
  • Able to create tests and work with pipelines to prove strong and maintainable code
  • Understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in end-to-end delivery of software products
  • Experience with agile development methods & tooling, and experience of working as part of an agile team
  • Be a great teammate who can build relationships and collaborate efficiently with other teams across a variety of domains.
What we need from you:
  • Strong experience in Python and another language such as Java or GoLang
  • You have strong knowledge of data engineering and how to curate data products within GCP.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, architecture and lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of Apache Airflow, Jupyter Notebooks
  • You are passionate about helping to build high quality data products
  • You have a keen interest in AI technologies and how these are built, in particular how we provision curated data to optimise their performance
  • Be experienced in databases, both RDBMS and NoSQL
  • Understanding of data warehouses, lakehouses, etc.
  • You want to work in an agile way – with knowledge of DevOps practises and CI/CD principles
  • You have effective communication skills and can clearly present ideas and provide direction to others
  • You're able to work without supervision and offer mentorship and leadership to others
