Job Summary

The Manager – Database & Systems is responsible for leading database and systems teams, ensuring high availability, security, performance, and scalability of IT infrastructure. The role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, procurement coordination, policy implementation, and continuous improvement of systems and database operations in alignment with organizational goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management

• Manage and provide technical guidance to teams of Database Administrators, Systems Engineers, Programmer Analysts, and Trainees.
• Lead and support Continuing Professional Education (CPE) initiatives for the team.
• Supervise team performance, conduct evaluations, and ensure continuous skill development.
• Handle manpower planning, recruitment, and resource allocation.

Systems & Infrastructure Management

• Analyze access, information, and security requirements and design robust system infrastructure.
• Plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of server hardware, software, and operating systems.
• Monitor system performance, conduct analysis, and perform performance tuning to ensure optimal operations.
• Design and execute system load and stress testing; escalate application issues to development teams or vendors as required.
• Ensure system availability in accordance with defined service standards.

Database Management

• Oversee database design, sizing, maintenance, recovery, and security.
• Work closely with software development teams to support database design for new applications and enhancements.
• Enforce standards for database and system design, maintenance, and documentation.

Security, Backup & Compliance

• Ensure secure system access, continuous monitoring, and reliable backup and recovery processes.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve Quality Indicators (QI), Policies, and Procedures (P&P).
• Ensure effective implementation and compliance with organizational IT policies and procedures.

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Coordinate procurement activities, including technical evaluation and assessment for new IT equipment.
• Communicate with vendors regarding customer support, product evaluations, licensing, and service issues.

Planning & Reporting

• Prepare short-term and long-term projections of IT resource requirements based on usage trends and IT strategy.
• Report regularly on project progress, outcomes, and resource utilization to management.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Stay updated with the latest technological developments in databases, systems, and storage.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Job SpecificationsAcademic Qualification

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualification

• Relevant professional certifications in Database Administration, Systems, or Infrastructure (preferred).

Work Experience

• Minimum of 05 years of proven experience in database, systems, and storage management.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server RDBMS.
• In-depth knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery mechanisms.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform any additional tasks assigned that align with the role and organizational objectives.
