Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support and lead electrical engineering and maintenance activities across our plant operations in Egypt. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the in tegrity, reliability, performance, and safety of electrical systems, while driving continuous improvement in line with O&M plans, HSE requirements, and quality standards. Please note that this role will support multiple sites across Egypt and flexibility to travel will be essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Modifications

• Lead electrical engineering activities related to plant modifications, including design, development, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Develop technical specifications for electrical equipment and components.
• Support bid preparation and technical evaluation of proposals, providing recommendations for vendor and supplier selection.
• Prepare feasibility studies, technical evaluations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for new installations or upgrades.

Maintenance & Reliability

• Supervise and monitor preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient execution.
• Review and continuously improve electrical maintenance procedures.
• Lead troubleshooting of critical electrical failures, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions.
• Promote a condition-based and reliability-centered maintenance culture to reduce reactive maintenance and downtime.
• Support emergency breakdown response to ensure plant availability and minimize operational and financial impact.

Outage & Shutdown Management

• Support planning and execution of electrical outage and shutdown activities in line with OEM recommendations.
• Contribute to manpower, budget, and spare parts forecasting to ensure timely resource availability.
• Provide technical support during shutdowns to meet HSE, scope, cost, and schedule objectives.

SAP, Documentation & Reporting

• Ensure accurate and timely maintenance documentation in SAP, including logs, work orders, breakdown analysis, and repair details.
• Maintain up-to-date engineering and maintenance documentation, including RCA reports, performance analysis, and integrity inspections.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and work order management activities.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure full compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
• Actively support safety awareness, investigations, and corrective actions in collaboration with the HSSE team.
• Ensure safe work practices are consistently applied by employees and contractors.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

• Build strong working relationships with internal teams, EPCs, OEMs, contractors, and vendors.
• Provide technical guidance and clarification to ensure accurate execution of operational requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to engineering improvement initiatives, change programs, and projects aligned with organizational objectives.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering .

Experience:

• 7–10 years of relevant engineering, maintenance, and design experience in power generation within renewable energy projects.
• Exposure to renewable energy technologies such as Wind and Photovoltaics is a strong advantage.

Skills & Expertise:

• Proficient in operation and maintenance of HV/MV electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, motors, inverters, protection systems) and substation technologies (GIS/AIS).
• Solid knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, IEEE).
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using industry best practices.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills and expertise in downtime/root cause analysis.
• Hands-on experience with SAP-based CMMS systems.
• Strong understanding of HSE standards and Permit-to-Work systems.
• Skilled in budgeting, spares management, and contracts administration.
• Knowledge of RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintenance) frameworks.
• Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, team leadership, and mentoring abilities.
• Flexibility to travel frequently to our sites in Egypt (Hurghada region, Aswan etc.)
