Key Responsibilities
- Tender & Bid Management: Analyze complex drawings, specifications, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) to prepare comprehensive technical and commercial bid proposals.
- Quantity Take-Offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs for softscape, hardscape, water features, and irrigation networks.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs while adjusting for market trends and regional conditions.
- Supplier Negotiations: Source quotations from specialized nurseries, hardscape suppliers, and subcontractors, driving price negotiations.
- Risk & Value Engineering: Identify project risks and propose cost-saving, alternative design solutions without compromising quality.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior estimators, reviewing associate staff estimates for accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
- Experience: Typically 5 to 10+ years of experience in cost estimation, with a strong focus on landscaping or civil contracting projects.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and industry-standard ERP or estimation software.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of landscaping construction methods, plant species (for regional climates), soil mixes, paving, and MEP components (like pumps and drainage).
