Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the core transmission (TXN) network, ensuring high availability and performance. The role includes Level-1 support for fiber and optical systems, coordination with vendors on fiber faults, supervision of fiber patrolling, and preventive maintenance of optical nodes.
  • It also involves executing rehabilitation and field projects, ensuring power availability at critical optical nodes, maintaining fiber losses as per design, managing SLAs, handling RoW renewals, and ensuring timely acceptance of fiber and optical TXN equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

Network Availability & Performance Ensure 24/7 availability and optimal performance of the core Transmission network, including OTN, SDH, DWDM, PTN, and BITS technologies. Proactively address remote and on-site network or equipment faults, and rectify performance-degraded links to maintain service continuity.

Operations & Maintenance Oversee and audit day-to-day Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities for long-haul and metro optical fiber networks, ensuring compliance with defined standards and procedures.

Fault Management & Support Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date network documentation to enable rapid fault localization and resolution. Supervise field teams, address on-site technical issues, and ensure round-the-clock operational support.

Fiber Network Management Monitor and analyze fiber losses, prepare reports, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely loss mitigation and network optimization.

Vendor & SLA Management Assign, manage, and monitor activities of Managed Services (MS) and fiber vendors for corrective and preventive maintenance. Coordinate timely hardware replacement and fiber break restoration, ensuring strict adherence to SLAs.

Performance & Stakeholder Coordination Evaluate vendor and subcontractor performance within the assigned region. Coordinate with internal stakeholders on legal, security, and operational matters, escalating to Head Office when required.

Project Execution & Deployment (North Region) Plan, execute, and manage transmission network projects, including optical fiber deployment (LH, Metro, FTTS, FTTH) and integration of active and passive network elements. Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation to closure.

Deployment & Integration Deploy transmission network elements, including core optical nodes, and ensure seamless integration with newly deployed fiber infrastructure.

Pre-Deployment Activities Prepare Work Orders (WOs) for power and space arrangements. Conduct Right-of-Way (RoW) verification and coordinate with relevant authorities.

Testing, Acceptance & QoS Assurance Coordinate implementation of new network entities and ensure successful PAT/PAC in collaboration with all stakeholders. Ensure fiber laying and testing comply with Quality of Service (QoS) standards.

Project Closure & Handover Ensure fulfillment of all contractual obligations, resolve technical issues during execution, reconcile BOQs, and complete project closure prior to handover to NOMC.

Documentation & Records Maintain updated network diagrams, as-built drawings, and fiber pair utilization records to ensure accurate network visibility and compliance.

Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Telecommunication, Electrical, Electronics from HEC recognized institution

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in relevant field.

Skills – Job Specific:

  • Excellent knowledge of core transmission network topologies and vendor products.
  • Strong understanding of core transmission network performance parameters, including their interpretation and practical application.
