The Senior Legal Counsel - International Trade & Regulatory Compliance will provide competent, practical and timely legal advice concerning global trade and regulatory compliance matters, including international trade, import activities and customs matters, export controls, and government contracting requirements - enabling The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to navigate fluid global trade regulations, manage a complex regulatory environment, and comply with government contracting requirements and other customer commitments.

This position will be a strategic and trusted advisor to Goodyear leadership across the Global Operations teams, the Law Dept, and applicable Corporate Functions.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Subject matter expert responsible for monitoring and providing legal advice and strategic guidance globally for all international trade related matters, including global trade agreements, trade restrictions and tariffs, as well as customs requirements, CBP protests and ITC investigations.
  • Subject matter expert providing legal advice and strategic guidance globally on export/import controls and compliance (including OFAC [The Office of Foreign Assets Control], ITAR [International Traffic in Arms Regulations] as well as other global trade compliance and export control matters).
  • Evaluate, update and develop internal processes and create training and outreach activities to promote internal policy awareness and legal compliance.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on compliance with all United States federal, state and local government contracting requirements. Monitor new developments and their impact on Goodyear.
  • Responsible for managing the company’s individual political activity policy, including political and lobbying expenditure reporting.
  • Support for DOT (United States Department of Transportation) regulatory compliance and related testing requirements (including providing advice to business stakeholders and supporting development of compliance systems).

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Law degree from an accredited United States law school and a member of the bar

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • 8 or more years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience serving clients in a fast-packed corporate environment (including client counseling experience)

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate across functions and establish trust with Executive and Senior Management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions
  • Demonstrated business judgment and consensus-building skills - Ability to provide practical solutions
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team providing timely/clear/concise legal advice to accomplish business objectives of the corporation
  • Highly motivated, efficient, organized and detail -oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
