Job Function Summary

Sustainability, Legal & Compliance (SLC) is a newly established department in Getinge, and is comprised of the following functions: Sustainability, Ethics & Compliance, Digitization & IPR, Corporate Legal, Global Commercial Legal.

Legal has a vital role in enabling and supporting Getinge and its leaders in managing legal and conduct risk in how business is done, creating a business environment which embeds responsibility for business ethics and law into daily operations, ensuring better control and predictability for the business on a global scale, as well as creating a sustainable and responsible business.

Legal also plays a vital role in supporting the business on a global, regional and local level with contractual arrangements, negotiations, risk evaluation and general day-to-day legal support. Getinge has operations in 68 locations in MEA through its channel partners.

Summary of the Job

This is a senior legal role within the global commercial legal team. As the Senior Legal Officer MENA, you will report to the Head of Legal CEE & MEA and will be providing high quality, strategic and practical legal advice, guidance and support for Getinge's business in the MENA region.

The role involves closely collaborating with the MENA sales and service organization (SSU) and Business Area (BA) entities, as well as working closely with the global business / product areas, global sales and service, corporate and group functions. You will also partner closely with the overall global Ethics & Compliance and sustainability team.

The key responsibilities will include providing practical legal counsel to the two regional SSUs and BA teams, coordinating and ensuring high quality legal support across the MENA region, collaborating closely with the Head of Legal CEE & MEA and the global legal team, partnering with the Ethics & Compliance and sustainability teams to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations, contributing legal expertise and insights to MENA business.

The role will report to the Head of Legal CEE & MEA.

Job Functions Responsible For

• Providing hands on legal support for the general corporate affairs of Getinge's legal entities and operations in the MENA region, including governance related matters.
• Managing relevant contracts with customers and suppliers, contractors, distributors and agents, service providers, software / technology providers, other internal corporate entities, etc.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements.
• In cooperation with the global commercial legal team, drafting, revising and implementing contract templates for various transactions and supporting the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
• In collaboration with the global legal team, implement contract management administration.
• Identifying and advising on legal, policy and regulatory risks and the legal liabilities associated with the MENA business in general as well as in specific transactions.
• Collaborating with the Ethics & Compliance team, e.g., supporting implementation of MENA policies and directives and MENA governance structures.
• Conducting training for various legal and compliance related topics as relevant.
• Keeping abreast of legal and compliance issues that could impact the MENA organization.
• Performing other related duties and special projects as required.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong sense of business ethics.
• Capability to work in a team and cooperate with all levels of an organization with a positive and engaging style, even in challenging circumstances.
• Commercial experience, analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to work seamlessly with cross functional teams in a matrix reporting structure.
• Knowledge of global business and international matrix models.
• A team player with a proactive and customer oriented mindset, providing high quality legal support, often under time pressure.
• Good judgment in knowing when and how to escalat e issues to the appropriate level and propose solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
• Integrity and responsibility in performing work.
• Ability to positively disagree and search for better solutions.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is preferred.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Finished Law degree.
• At least 5 years of legal experience.
• Experience with close working relationship with E&C teams.
• Experience working in the Middle East, Africa, and Central & Eastern European markets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential.

• Contact with the Global Legal and Global Ethics & Compliance team.
• Contact with regional global sales management, regional business area management, and functional leaders within the global organization.
• Contact with vendors, consultants, customers, distributors, and other relevant external third parties.
