Senior Manager Aviation Security

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Develop and establish a long-term strategic plan for airport security, implement processes and policies aligned with the General Civil Aviation Authority guidelines, and initiate programs and technologies to ensure the highest level of safety and security at all Abu Dhabi Airports.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate sectional objectives and plans aligned with the division/department’s strategic goals and operational plans.
  • Recommend KPIs for the section and its employees, ensuring alignment with ADA’s performance management framework.
  • Create and monitor the sectional budget, providing guidance on budget optimization.
  • Supervise section performance and collaborate with the department head to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Identify training and development needs, with a focus on Emiratization.
  • Ensure availability of specialized staff and contribute to annual manpower planning.
  • Provide feedback to direct reports and performance insights to the department head.
  • Undertake additional duties assigned by the reporting manager.
  • Ensure creation, maintenance, and distribution of aviation security policies and procedures.
  • Oversee inspection and handling of hazardous runways and operational areas as necessary.
  • Stay updated on aviation security services, procedures, and best practices.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of daily security and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with the COO and GMs to develop and implement comprehensive security and contingency plans.
  • Manage the implementation and upkeep of security plans across all airports.
  • Ensure availability and maintenance of security equipment meeting national and international standards.
  • Promote awareness of airport security among internal stakeholders.
  • Develop response plans for airport security incidents and provide guidance on security measures.
  • Ensure prompt response to calls for assistance from pilots or aircraft crew.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and ensure compliance with HR, legal, risk, and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Contribute to periodic audits and recommend corrective actions for quality or compliance issues.
  • Lead change management activities and manage stakeholder communications.
  • Identify technology-related needs to promote automation and cost optimization.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance leadership and technical skills.
  • Participate in performance appraisals and implement feedback for development.


Requirements and Skills

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Airport Management or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Aviation Security Management.

Top Competencies:

  • Expertise in managing crises, coordinating emergency response efforts, and ensuring airport safety under high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, and the public.
  • Deep understanding of aviation security regulations and ability to ensure compliance with standards.
