Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Position: - Senior Design Engineer

Roles:

• Project Leadership – Lead the design and development of automation systems, ensuring solutions meet performance, safety, and cost targets.
• Technical Ownership – Take responsibility for end-to-end design from concept to commissioning.
• Innovation & Problem Solving – Introduce advanced automation technologies (robots, PLC, sensors, vision systems) for efficiency improvements.
• Mentorship – Guide and support junior engineers, interns, and design associates in technical and professional growth.
• Cross-functional Collaboration – Work with production, quality, purchase, vendors, and customers to deliver optimized solutions.
• Customer Interaction – Understand client requirements provide technical presentations/demonstrations.
• Compliance & Standards – Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities:

1. Requirement Analysis

· Understand customer specifications, functional needs, and automation objectives.

· Translate requirements into workable technical solutions.

2. Concept & System Design

· Develop machine layouts, automation concepts, and feasibility studies.

· Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.

· Evaluate and select actuators, sensors, robots, and other automation components.

3. Engineering & Development

· Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection.

· Work on BOM (Bill of Materials) preparation and standardization of components.

· Coordinate with electrical/software teams for system integration.

4. Prototyping & Testing

· Oversee prototype building, debugging, and testing.

· Validate design for safety, cycle time, and durability.

· Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).

5. Documentation & Compliance

· Prepare design documentation, manuals, and test reports.

· Ensure compliance with ISO, CE, OSHA, and other safety standards.

6. Project Management

· Track project timelines, resources, and deliverables.

· Coordinate with vendors for outsourced parts and ensure quality.

· Provide cost estimation and design optimization for budget adherence.

7. Continuous Improvement

· Drive improvements in productivity, cost, and quality through automation.

· Evaluate new technologies (AI, IoT, Industry 4.0, vision systems).

· Implement design best practices and lessons learned in future projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Automation.
• 5 – 8+ year’s experience in mechanical/product design or related engineering.
• Strong knowledge of industrial processes, control systems, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and tools.
