Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

EGEC Qatar is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team. The successful candidate will oversee all mechanical engineering aspects across major projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and master schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of mechanical design strategies, pre-concept studies, layouts, and detailed mechanical designs throughout all project phases.
• Manage and review consultant and contractor submissions, including design drawings, RFIs, material submittals, technical documents, and invoices.
• Ensure effective integration and coordination of mechanical systems with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Monitor consultant and contractor performance to ensure compliance with quality standards, project budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinate with internal departments, procurement, and contracts teams regarding approvals, procurement activities, and technical matters.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, project completion, and handover processes for mechanical systems.
• Review and endorse completion certificates, as-built documentation, and related deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and PMC/construction projects.
• Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Experience in large-scale commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, or infrastructure developments.
• Strong knowledge of international engineering standards and codes.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• GCC experience is highly preferred.
• Experience working with international consultants and contractors is an advantage.
• Professional certifications are considered a plus.
